Allentuck Landscaping Co. Continues Our Commitment To Arlington National Cemetery

group all sitting during a presentation

There are some days that you find yourself simply humble and proud. The 21st annual National Association of Landscape Professionals’ Renewal & Remembrance at Arlington National Cemetery was one of those days.

This year, 500 of our landscape colleagues from around the country descended on Arlington National Cemetery for a carefully orchestrated day of service. The morning started off with an opening ceremony with moving personal stories from two of our members on what Arlington National Cemetery meant to them and their families.

The keynote presentation was given by Brennan Mullaney, the Executive Director of Team Red, White and Blue (www.teamrwb.org) whose mission is to is to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. Brennan did a fantastic job of our mission for the day with that of Team RWB.

Next, it was off to work. Teams fanned out though the cemetery to apply lime to turf, plant shrubs, install lightning protection in historic trees, upgrade irrigation systems, and install brick paver seating areas.

Our team was busy at the brick paver project. In fact, we had Allentuck Landscaping Co. crews on site the week before preparing the area for the installation of the pavers.

In all, the day was one of those that you never want to forget. The opportunity to give something back in a place that is the final home to people that paid the ultimate sacrifice for what we believe in in this country, and to be able to do it with one’s own team and several hundred of one’s peers, can only leave you humble and proud.
